Logo and brand design
for people doing good things.

New business at the point where you realize you need branding ASAP? Maybe you’re tired of trying to DIY it. Or maybe your current branding no longer aligns with your vision. I can help!

I create elegant, professional, and polished custom branding that helps you get noticed and remembered by the people who matter the most – your dream clients.

My 7-step brand design process is collaborative, and I try to make it as fun and easy as possible for my clients.

Step 1: Brand Discovery

To start off, we’ll get to the heart of your brand story with my brand discovery workbook.

We’ll get clear on what you do, who you serve, why you do what you do, and what sets you apart.

I’ll research your industry, your competitors, and your target market to get a better insight into your brand position.

Step 2: Keyword Exploration

I’m as much of a word nerd as I am a visual person. Using your answers to the questions in the brand discovery workbook and also any other communication we’ve had, I’ll compile a list of keywords that represent your brand and your vision.

Step 3: Visual Inspiration

I use Pinterest to curate visual inspiration for projects. I create a secret board for each project and then pin images from many different sources. Design inspiration can be anywhere!

Step 4: Brand Directions

Next, I’ll create three different brand directions for us to explore.

Each direction brings together typography, color, photography, textures, and patterns in a mood board that represents a “look and feel” for your brand. There will also be examples of other logos follow that same direction.

Your first deliverable is a pdf presentation of the three brand directions, with explanations of my choices. With your feedback, we can then clarify that direction – I’ll revise a direction, piece two together, or even start from scratch, until we get it right.

Step 5: The idea phase

Once we’ve established a clear direction for your brand, then the logo design process begins.

I’ll start by sketching a bunch of designs – either with old fashioned pencil and paper or on my graphics tablet, depending on my mood.

This stage is less about perfection and more about getting as many ideas out as possible, so it’s often messy!

Step 6: Bringing it to life

I’ll bring my messy sketches into Adobe Illustrator and then start playing around. This stage can also be messy, as I just have fun playing with shapes, colors, and typography.

Your next deliverable is a pdf presentation of a brand design concept based on the established brand direction.

This includes a primary logo, submarks, typography, a color palette, different layout options for your logo, and mockups of your logo on things like business cards, apparel & etc. to show you how this branding would look in the real world.

I’ll then work with your feedback to hone your branding and logo. Sometimes this may mean going back to my sketches and trying another concept. I’m happy to provide three rounds of revisions at this stage.

Step 7: Polish & Present

I want to make your branding easy for you, so I take the time to package up your final deliverables in a way that’s organized and accessible.

You’ll get a link to a shared Google Drive folder, where you will find all of your brand assets organized in easily understandable folders, as well as two brand guides: a brief snapshot of all your new brand assets, and a more in-depth guide to using your new branding, so you always have a reference to follow to maintain a consistent brand style.

Each design created (the primary logo, the wordmark, the icon, etc.) will be sent in multiple formats for print or web, so you always have the right file type for the application. You will get the original, editable .ai (Adobe Illustrator) source file, as well as .jpg, .png, .svg, .eps, and .pdf versions, as well as instructions on how and when to use each type. If you need any other format types, I’m happy to provide them at any time down the road.
